Requesting an FHA Case Number Transfer

We can only respond to requests directly from mortgage lenders about transferring an FHA case number.  When requesting a transfer, the mortgage lender must:

1. Obtain a signed letter from the borrower requesting the transfer. The letter must ask specifically for the FHA case number to be transferred to the new lender—it cannot be a blanket copy of an authorization for verifications.
2. Email fhacasenumbertransfers@carringtonvm.com with the signed letter and the following information:

• FHA case number
• Borrower name
• Lender name
• Lender FHA ID
• Appraisal transfer: yes or no

Note that the borrower must contact Carrington to cancel any open loan applications with us before a transfer can be completed.
